ShipItConAutomating observability on AWS with SLIC Watch

ShipItCon

Event Details

On Friday, September 1st, Luciano Mammino and Diren Akkoc will speak at ShipItCon, held at the Mansion House in Dublin. Diren will join a panel discussion João Rosa and Damien Marshall to discuss topics such as the unknown, risk management, security, building resilient teams and processes. While Luciano’s talk, titled “Automating observability on AWS with SLIC Watch,” will address the issue of unnoticed failures in Lambda functions.

Talk Description:

Have you ever experienced Lambda function failures without even realising it? If your answer is YES, it’s likely because you’ve encountered challenges while working with cloud technologies, where errors and failures are frequently encountered. While it may not be possible to prevent all failures, we can strive to identify and address them as early as possible, ideally before our customers notice.

To achieve this, we require robust observability for our serverless applications, which necessitates developing a strong understanding of services such as CloudWatch. If you’ve already experimented with CloudWatch, you’re likely aware of its power but also its complexity, as correctly setting it up can be quite labor-intensive.

In this talk, Luciano will introduce SLIC Watch, an open-source tool designed to automatically implement observability best practices for applications running on AWS. With SLIC Watch, you can streamline the process of ensuring effective observability for your AWS applications.
